On 10 February 2024, the Civil Protection of the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil provided information on the heavy rains occurring that date in the municipality of Cáceres. Due to the flooding, around 20 families were sheltered at the Cáceres School. On 11 February, media reported 7,000 people were affected and 20,000 people were without power. Wildfire

Chile (Update)

On 12 February 2024, the Chile Ministry of the Interior and Civil Protection (SENAPRED per its acronym in Spanish) published updated information regarding the wildfire Chile. According to the update, 7,066 homes were destroyed (5,471 increase since the 8 February report) in the regions of Valparaíso (n=6,974), O’Higgins (n=80), Maule (n=3), La Araucanía (n=7), and Los Lagos (n=2). Additionally, 249 homes were affected (43 increase), of which, 244 in the region of Valparaíso. There were 4,798 people affected (130 increase) in the regions of Valparaíso (n=4,678), O’Higgins (n=96), Maule (n=9), La Araucanía (n=11), and Los Lagos (n=4). The report is available from: SENAPRED
